Services

Destiny Quest
Angie Shannon Elementary Library provides an exciting, student-centered catalog search service! Destiny Quest is a fantastic service that helps student take ownership of their reading choices and makes finding new reading material fun!
Student Perks:
Not only can the students search our collection, but they can also see the top ten books checked out in our library, create their own reading lists, view our new arrivals, and get ideas for other books they may like based on what they've read or searched. It even shows where the book is located on the shelf! Students also have the opportunity to promote reading by writing their own book reviews!

Parent and Teacher Perks:
Each listing includes bibliographic information, awards, and reviews! Some listings even include online resources. Parents and teachers can also keep up with what's popular and new in our library!

Need to find a book while you're at school? Come to the library and search the catalog

At home and thinking about a book? Search the catalog from your home computer or through the mobile app available on smartphones and/or tablets!

eBooks!
Angie Shannon Elementary Library is going digital! In conjunction with our city's public library, we will be offering eBooks as a part of our circulation! Browse our new and growing collection of eBooks, but also have access to thousands of eBooks through the public library!

How does it work?
Inquiring students will receive a public library card with information to access the eBook collection. Access eBooks through your computer, tablet, eReader, or smartphone! Many books are available through Overdrive Read software.

How long is the eBook available?
eBooks are available on your device for two weeks, just like checking out a regular library book! After the two weeks is up, the book will no longer be accessible unless the item has been renewed. Renewals will not be granted for books that are on hold by another student.

What if I don't have a device?
Have no fear! Thanks to a generous donation to the Angie Shannon Elementary Library, we now have ten eReaders available for check out! Don't forget, eBooks can also be viewed on a regular computer with internet access!

*Please see our Usage page for a monthly report of students who check out books vs. eBooks
